Welcome to Morningside AlpacasAt Morningside Alpacas, we are developing a breeding program for both Huacaya (wa-ky-uh) and Suri (soo-ree) Alpacas. We are located in Central Queensland, half way between Rockhampton and Emu Park on the Capricorn Coast. Our property is situated at the end of a valley bounded by National Park and State Forest. One of the main reasons we've become involved with Alpacas is the fact that they are so environmentally friendly, apart from the fact they are so damned cute. Alpacas have two toes and the underside of their foot is a soft pad (much the same as a dog's) so they are very gentle on the earth. They also nibble grass rather than pull it out. Our love affair with Alpacas began after visiting Pfeiffer Park Alpacas at an open day on Australia Day weekend 2010. At this point we would like to acknowledge Kelli Pfeiffer and her family for the fantastic support and advice they have given us in the time leading up to and including the purchase of our "kids". Our property is registered with Land For Wildlife through Greening Australia with the majority of our land (approximately 85%) in its natural state for our local flora and fauna. We also subscribe to the World Wildlife Fund amongst others. As Suri Alpacas were only recently taken off the International Rare and Endangered Species list we like to believe we're doing our bit to improve their genetics and help the species to continue. Morningside Alpacas News
Hi and welcome to our website. 19/11/2011 "Leaholme Ganesha" was born to Marley, a beautiful Black Huacaya male. First progeny of Waradene Gene & Waradene Marley. What a stunner! 05/08/2011 "Leaholme Gorgeous" was born while we were on our way home from Bundaberg after buying three new Suris. A beautiful Solid Dark Grey female suri born to Casi. Certain to be a "showgirl". 02/02/2011 "Leaholme Greyson" arrived at 11:00am. Male Huacaya born to Katrobe Willow. Beautiful nature and Silver Grey. 24/05/2010 "Leaholme Feisty Gwyn" arrived at 9:50am. Our first born female cria and dark brown Huacaya. Mum (Honalee) and bub doing well. 13/05/2010 Tianna and Willow arrived today from Victoria. 27/04/2010 "Leaholme Funesto GJ" arrived at 11 a.m. after a text book birth for first time Mum "Casi". We're SO proud of Casi, she's a perfect Mum in every way. GJ is a very strong little male Suri cria who is as black as the ace of spades - not bad for a first timer! Probably our first Stud, certainly a show quality boy. Tuesday 6th April 2010 was a very exciting day for us, after many weeks of rain delays and building/fencing preparations we were finally ready to take delivery of our first three Alpacas ... Casi and Honalee, our two pregnant Suri's and their Suri guardian, Declan. Casi and Honalee were both due to give birth around the end of April so it was good to have them here with time to settle into their new home before giving birth. We are also expecting two more pregnant hembras to be delivered from Victoria in May. Tianna and Willow are Huacayas. Their Cria's are due early in 2011.
Thanks for visiting, Mel & Branton |
